Oppong, 21, was loaned to GIF Sundsvall in the fall of 2023 and throughout 2024. He had his Allsvenskan breakthrough last season, playing 15 matches before IFK Norrköping sold him to OGC Nice during the summer for a transfer fee of around 30 million Swedish kronor. Oppong did not expect to get regular playing time so quickly at Nice.

At Nice, Oppong has scored one goal in 33 competitive matches. He sometimes thinks about how quickly he went from Superettan to Ligue 1, noting that one year ago he was loaned to Superettan and the next year he played in one of Europe's biggest leagues. According to Fotbolltransfers, Oppong described the level at Nice as clearly higher than Allsvenskan, adding that he wanted to test himself at this level and play for a big team.

For me, the level has been very high. It is very tactical, and if you sleep for just a second, you get punished. But I like the challenge. For my development, this has been a good step.

He is now in one of the highest leagues in the world, and the move to Nice has been a very good step for him. Oppong enjoys his new city on the French Riviera. According to Fotbolltransfers, he described it as very nice with a lot to do, but he mostly stays indoors, preferring that, though when he has visitors, he sometimes goes to the beach or out to eat.

Ghana will play in the World Cup this summer, and Oppong dreams of being part of it. He has just completed a training session with OGC Nice, at least parts of it, as he is still recovering from an injury. According to Norrköpings Tidningar, Oppong described having problems with a knee and being in pain, but it is better now; he was out on the pitch a bit today and will train fully again tomorrow.

Of course. I am in one of the highest leagues in the world now. I wanted to test myself at this level and play for a big team. It has become a very good step for me.

The specific knee injury Oppong suffered and its severity are unknown, as is whether he will be selected for Ghana's World Cup squad this summer. How much playing time Oppong is currently getting at OGC Nice also remains unclear.

It is very nice. There is a lot to do. But I mostly stay indoors, I prefer that. When I have visitors, it happens that I go to the beach or out to eat.
