A new warning system called Observandum is being introduced in ambulances across Västernorrland to improve safety for emergency medical personnel. The system, which will be implemented next week, aims to provide ambulance staff with better information about potential risks before entering patients' homes.

The Observandum system flags individuals who have previously been threatening or violent, allowing ambulance personnel to get a clearer picture of potential risks at the location. The system also provides descriptions of previous incidents and suggestions for handling situations, which in some cases may involve waiting for police before entering to reduce the risk of dangerous situations.
The implementation follows demands from ambulance personnel for better information about patients they will encounter, particularly after the murder of an ambulance worker in Harmånger. The system will also be able to flag if a person has a care plan that deviates from standard guidelines, ensuring they receive appropriate help immediately.
