A new police station will be built on Smålandsgatan in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Land and Environment Court of Appeal has denied leave to appeal, meaning the detailed plan now gains legal force after nearly three years of legal review. In addition to the police station, the plan includes student housing, offices, and new facilities for Ullevi tennis.
The purpose is to densify the area and create a safer urban environment. Henrik Kant, the city planning director, stated in a press release that this is a plan with many important societal functions, primarily for the police but also prioritized student housing.
