Key Points
  • Nyköping municipality has signed a letter of intent with a Linköping-based riding school for the Nyäng facility.
  • No long-term contract has been signed yet, but they are in the final phase of negotiations.
  • The previous riding school left last year after two years of operation, and the facility has been vacant at times.

After years of uncertainty, a new riding school may be coming to the Nyäng facility in Nyköping, Sweden. The municipality has signed a letter of intent with Haga stall and omsorg, a riding school operator based in Linköping, and they are in the final phase of a contract process, though no long-term agreement has been signed yet. This follows the departure of the previous riding school, which operated there for two years and left last year.

If a deal is reached, the plan is to establish a riding school at the facility, according to Josefine Linder, the unit manager for the operation. In Linköping, the organization also runs leisure and care activities, competitions, and events, and they hope to do much of the same in Nyköping. The facility cost the municipality 80 million kronor to build and has stood empty at times while searching for a riding school to rent the premises.
