A new film adaptation of the 101-year-old text 'Doktor Glas' is in production for 2026. The 27-year-old Isac Calmroth has written the screenplay and will play the title role. Christian Fandango plays the antagonist, Thea Sofie Loch Næss plays the wife in distress, and Erik Leijonborg directs the cast.
This will be the third film adaptation of 'Doktor Glas', following versions from 1942 and 1965, with none of the actors from those earlier adaptations involved in the 2026 version. Four major roles are filled by the same people who worked on the 2023 update of 'Ondskan'. In the editing room, director Erik Leijonborg and editor Emil Stenberg selected a song with a hidden message for one of the scenes, aiming to avoid making fun of their own scene.
