Sven Seljom, a consultant from Mandal and the world champion in oatmeal porridge, is organizing the national championship. According to NRK Sørlandet, Seljom said the response has been bigger than expected, noting that he meets people who eat oatmeal porridge daily. The competition rules require only three ingredients: oats, water, and salt.
The oats must be steel cut or coarse-ground, not quick-cooking or large flakes, as Seljom explained to NRK Sørlandet. If too many participants register, there will be a lottery for spots. The winner receives travel, trip, and accommodation in Scotland covered, according to Seljom.
We want as many as possible to sign up from all over the country.
Jacobsen told NRK Sørlandet that it was important to secure an agreement with the world championship organizers so the Norwegian winner can be sent to Scotland. He also encouraged broad participation from across the country.
It has been important for us to get an agreement with those who run the world championship, so that the winner of the Norwegian championship can actually be sent to the World Championship in Scotland.
It is much bigger than I thought. I meet people all the time who say they eat oatmeal porridge every single day.
The one who wins the Norwegian championship gets travel, trip and accommodation in Scotland covered.
