The Norwegian Competition Authority has sent a 25-day notice to Elkjøp Nordic AS and Hovedhuset AS (Eplehuset). The notice means the Competition Authority needs to conduct more thorough assessments of whether intervention against the acquisition is relevant. This notice is not a final decision, but means the Competition Authority is proceeding with the case to make a detailed assessment of the acquisition.
The Competition Authority announced this in a press release on Thursday. Elkjøp has reported the acquisition of all shares in Hovedhuset AS. The Competition Authority will assess whether the acquisition could lead to reduced competition in the sale of Mac and iPad products to private customers, and for authorized service and repair of Apple products.
