The retail chain Normal has been exposed for selling honey diluted with sugar at its Malmö location, according to a report from Sydsvenskan. The fraudulent product, marketed as Hilltop hot honey, was discovered using a new testing method that revealed it had been mixed with sugar solutions.
Yngve Kihlberg of Biodlingsföretagarna, who reportedly tipped off environmental inspectors about the issue, criticized the product, stating consumers might as well buy syrup instead. The diluted honey was sold at Normal's Triangeln store in Malmö.

According to Kihlberg, honey fraud involving sugar dilution is widespread among imported honey products in Sweden, with several similar revelations occurring in recent years. The case highlights ongoing concerns about food authenticity and consumer protection in the Swedish market.
