IFK Göteborg has announced Nicklas Lauwell as its new club director, with his start reportedly scheduled for this summer. The appointment was made official on the club's website. Lauwell, 56, replaces Håkan Mild, who left his role as club director last autumn, after which Sofia Hultberg served as temporary club director.
According to reports, the club sought a more commercial profile for the position because it now has a football manager, Jesper Jansson, responsible for sports matters. Lauwell has a background as a referee and referee developer for top referees, and has been active in the Swedish Football Association, Swedish Elite Football, Halland Football Association, and Gothia Cup. He is currently at Duni Group, where he is Chief Officer for the Food Packaging Solutions business area and a member of the group management.
Lauwell is an experienced leader with a strong commercial background and a documented ability to lead complex organizations, and that the club is convinced he will lift the operations to a higher level.
Magnus Nilsson, chairman of IFK Göteborg, stated on the website that Lauwell is an experienced leader with a strong commercial background and a documented ability to lead complex organizations, and that the club is convinced he will lift the operations to a higher level.
