Neymar slapped and tripped his 18-year-old teammate Robinho Jr during a training ground altercation at Santos after being dribbled past and telling him to take it easy. The Brazilian forward later apologised and the incident was resolved. Neymar and Robinho Jr share a close relationship, likened to that of a godfather and godson, according to major media outlets.

The same sources reported that Robinho Jr's father, former Brazil international Robinho, is serving a nine-year prison sentence for rape. Both players were removed from the training session following the altercation, according to reports. Robinho Jr's representatives also complained to Santos' club president, multiple reports said.

It remains unclear what disciplinary action, if any, Santos will take. Neymar was left out of Santos' match against Palmeiras due to concerns over the synthetic pitch and his injury history, major media reported. Robinho Jr has made 23 appearances for Santos so far, the same sources said.
