  • A Newport court issued a three-month closure order for a Ringland property due to anti-social behaviour complaints.
  • Occupants must vacate the property, and unauthorized access during the closure is a criminal offence.
  • Police and housing officials credited resident cooperation for securing the order to address community safety concerns.

Newport Magistrates' Court granted a closure order on a property in Ringland, Newport. The closure order was granted after Gwent Police and Hedyn responded to residents' concerns about anti-social behaviour linked to the property. " The specific anti-social behaviours reported at the property have not been disclosed.

The closure order lasts three months, from March 2 to June 2. Those living at the property have been instructed to vacate and secure alternative housing, though the arrangements made for them are unknown. During the closure order, anyone attempting to access the property will be committing a criminal offence and faces potential arrest.

We had calls about anti-social behaviour (ASB) linked to this address and people living in the area felt they were not able to live in peace and comfort.

The property has been secured with boarding. " She added, "I would like to thank residents who spoke to us about the issues at this flat and provided the evidence needed to secure this closure order," though the nature of that evidence has not been detailed. Justin Wigmore, director of homes and communities at Hedyn, said, "Working in partnership with residents and the police has been key to addressing the issues in the area.

" Authorities encourage anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour or criminal activity to come forward.

This closure order is a direct result of our officers responding to concerns from local residents, and working in partnership with Hedyn.
