The turnaround on Wednesday came after media reports about possible contacts between the parties and after the United States promised military protection for tankers. Additionally, new statistics were released on growth in the US services sector, more jobs in the private sector, and cooling inflation. The stock market also received help from five of the heavily weighted technology companies known as "the magnificent seven" rising.
