A new wolf territory has been discovered in Uppsala County, Sweden, according to local wildlife authorities. The territory, named Skvallermyren, is located on Hållnäshalvön and consists of one male and one female wolf.

Anders Johannesson, a wildlife manager at the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen), stated that the male wolf in the new territory is a brother to the male wolf in the Florarna territory. "We discovered it after tips from the public, and after investigation at the site we could confirm that it was a new territory," Johannesson said.

According to Johannesson, the male wolf originates from Setten in Norway, while the female comes from Sörmland. Uppsala County previously had four wolf territories: Florarna, Siggefora, Ingsjön and Tinäset. Last autumn, another new territory called Lapphällarna was discovered outside Heby.

Johannesson noted that livestock owners in the area may be affected by the new wolf territory, but stated there is no indication that the risk of attacks is greater in this territory than in others. "If there are wolves in this area, there is always a risk of attacks," he said.

The discovery marks the latest expansion of wolf populations in the region, continuing a trend of increasing wolf territories in central Sweden.
