The new route, operated by Lumo, will include stops at Milton Keynes Central, Nuneaton, Crewe, Preston, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Whifflet, Greenfaulds, and Larbert. Whifflet, Greenfaulds, and Larbert will receive their first-ever direct rail services to London. The service will offer four daily return services between Stirling and London (three on Sundays), with an additional fifth return service between Preston and London.
Lumo currently operates low-cost services on the East Coast Main Line connecting Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle with London. The expansion aims to enhance travel choice for passengers in both Scotland and England. Newly refurbished Class 222 trains will operate on the route. According to Lumo, the trains are undergoing a refresh with full exterior livery in Lumo's blue. The trains will have refreshed existing seats, with some coaches fitted with new sleek grey and silver seating. Lumo operates a single-class of Standard seating. The company will open a new HQ in Preston for the services due to operate on the West Coast Main Line. Tickets for the new route will go on sale in due course.
