According to Luleå kommun, construction work on the new sports hall on Hertsön is continuing according to plan. The facility, which will be twice as large as the previous one, is now taking shape with heat in place, walls started, and installations in full swing. The roof is insulated and heat is in place in the large hall, which can be divided into three basketball halls with the help of curtain walls. Heating occurs via ventilation and elements in the ceiling. Solar panels are installed on the roof, which is angled in a south-facing direction. Eight changing rooms are being built in the corridor, currently under construction. The hall has a wooden frame with a truss of solid wood, which is good for the environment and fire protection. Like other premises in the new buildings, the sports hall is equipped with hearing loops and wireless speakers and microphones. In November, students and associations can start using the modern facility, and according to the schedule, it should be ready for use in November. The schedule was previously brought forward by one year and they are keeping pace with the plans. Currently, the focus is on the school and library, which should be ready for inspection already in March.
The symbolic first groundbreaking took place today for a new and long-awaited sports hall in Roma, according to Region Gotland. The new full-size sports hall is primarily for Roma School's physical education, but also for sports associations that need a modern training and meeting place. The hall will be placed between the school buildings and Visbyvägen (road 143). The cost of the construction is estimated at 50 million kronor, with Gotlandsbyggen as the main contractor. For schools in the nearby area, the new sports hall means more scheduled hours and it also meets the requirements of the expanded curriculum. For the association life, this becomes a new meeting place where training, competitions, and social events can be held. The sports hall will include stands with space for 172 seated and approximately 60 standing spectators. It is planned to be ready for use by summer 2027.
