According to multiple reports, new public art has been installed at Skattkärrsskolan, created by the artist duo Folkform with input from students. The artwork consists of glazed brick works that also function as birdhouses and homes for bumblebees or other insects. The project was inaugurated on a Friday, and the school completed renovation and expansion in 2023.
Monika Bubholz (MP), chair of the Technical and Property Committee, stated that it is important that art reaches not only the city center of Karlstad. Students participated in a workshop and contributed ideas for the art project. According to SVT Värmland, student Filip Äng described recalling ideas about insects and birds.
Artist Anna Holmquist stated that the project had been worked on for several years and that its completion feels wonderful. Karlstad Cathedral will celebrate its 300th anniversary in 2030. The church council decided to commission an artwork for the anniversary, selecting artist Lars Lerin.
