A new food market will gather producers, entrepreneurs, and visitors around the flavors from the countryside in Kalmar County. The first market is arranged on May 30 at Skälby Gård in Kalmar. The initiative is backed by the county administrative board's effort "Kraftsamling lokal mat," which works to support locally produced food and encourage consumers to choose local food items.

The new food market will offer forty furnished exhibition spaces in large tents, filled with producers, food artisans, restaurateurs, bakers, and farm shops. Participation is free for food companies, and the ambition is for the food market to become a recurring event. The plan is for the next event to be held in the northern part of Kalmar County in 2027.
