Västblekinge Miljö (VMAB), the waste management company jointly owned by Karlshamn, Olofström, and Sölvesborg, has now started the new Byggåterbruket at the recycling center in Mörrum. The inspiration for Byggåterbruket comes from Karlskrona, Hässleholm, and other municipalities where the concept already exists. People who want to get rid of used but usable building materials can drop them off, and those who need them can come and pick them up.
Examples of used building materials available at the new Byggåterbruket include windows, doors, timber, roof tiles, sinks, bathtubs, and flooring. The idea for Byggåterbruket was born three years ago, and preparations have been ongoing since then, according to Malin Håkansson, a department head. ' The exact opening date or timeline for the new Byggåterbruket in Mörrum has not been specified.
We have seen for many years that there are a huge number of things that come in and become waste, which instead can be taken care of and circulated further in society.
Region Blekinge has similar plans to start a building reuse center in Blekinge, as previously reported by SVT, but how this relates to or differs from VMAB's Byggåterbruket is unclear.
