Former alpine skiing star Felix Neureuther has criticized TV broadcasters for their handling of footage showing Lindsey Vonn's serious crash during the Olympic downhill event in Milan/Cortina, Italy. According to reports from SVT Sport and Expressen Sport, Neureuther, who works as an expert commentator for German broadcaster ARD, said the continued broadcasting of images and sound as Vonn lay screaming in pain was inappropriate and disrespectful to her family. He reportedly asked ARD to lower the volume during the live broadcast to avoid hearing Vonn's screams.

Vonn, who had a torn ACL before the race, crashed early in her run and was taken to a hospital. She has since undergone five operations and is in rehabilitation. In a post on X, Vonn responded to speculation about her career, stating she does not need permission to do what makes her happy and that only time will tell if she competes again.
