Key Points
  • Netflix released the trailer for Ladies First, starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike.
  • The film is a satire about a 'ladies man' in a parallel world ruled by women.
  • Viewers have compared it to What Women Want and I Am Not An Easy Man.

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Ladies First. Ladies First centers on 'ladies man' Damien, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, who awakens in a parallel world ruled by women. The synopsis states that with the rules of engagement changed, Damien goes head-to-head with a fiery female colleague in a playful satire about what happens when the script is flipped.

The trailer depicts Damien struggling to adapt to this seismic social shift, while his formerly reserved employee Alex, played by Rosamund Pike, has become the no-nonsense CEO of his company. YouTube viewers highlighted striking similarities between Ladies First and Mel Gibson's 2000 romcom What Women Want. What Women Want follows 'chauvinistic' advertising executive Nick, who is furious when a woman secures a senior position over him, and his world is turned upside down when he unexpectedly develops the ability to read women's minds.

I love Rosamund and Sacha.

Others have drawn comparisons between Ladies First and the French Netflix production I Am Not An Easy Man, with some believing it to be a remake of the original. Despite unfavorable comparisons, many are eagerly anticipating seeing Rosamund Pike and Sacha Baron Cohen share the screen in Ladies First. It remains unclear whether Ladies First is officially a remake of What Women Want or I Am Not An Easy Man, and exact plot details beyond the basic premise described in the trailer and synopsis have not been confirmed.

Critical reception, viewership numbers, and production details such as budget or director are also unknown ahead of the film's release.

I see Rosamund Pike and I click.

This is absolutely amazing. I'm so excited there is already a French version of this movie that I think was made around 2022 on Netflix but I can't wait to see this version.
