According to NASA, the spacewalks will prepare the station for the future installation of International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays (IROSA). S. spacewalk 94, is scheduled for March 18, with NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Chris Williams exiting the Quest airlock to prepare the 2A power channel for IROSA.
It will be Meir's fourth spacewalk and Williams' first. m. and last about six and a half hours.
S. spacewalk 95, two NASA astronauts will prepare the station's 3B power channel for a future IROSA installation, but NASA has not yet announced which astronauts will participate or the exact date and time. The spacewalks were originally scheduled for January but were adjusted after the early departure of NASA's SpaceX Crew-11 mission, though the cause of that departure is unknown.
NASA will provide more details on spacewalk 95 closer to the operation. Experts from NASA previewed the spacewalks during a news conference on Monday, March 16, at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, with participants including Bill Spetch, Diana Trujillo, and Ronak Dave. These spacewalks will be the 278th and 279th supporting space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades, and they are the first for Expedition 74.
