The locker, owned by specialist company Yeep!, appeared on April 10 and is located half a mile from the nearest shop, according to multiple reports. Residents claim they were initially told a concrete base was being laid for a new salt box, but instead the locker was erected. It has not been used once since installation, residents say.
Lynda Congrave, 79, who has lived on the street for 40 years, told the Daily Mail that the locker blocks her view and poses risks to local children, who might run into traffic if cars speed to drop off parcels. John Davies, another resident, said the land was bought by a man in Kenilworth who claimed the council asked him to install a salt box. Davies said the council visited the next day and promised to do their best to get the locker moved.
It remains unclear whether planning permission was obtained for the locker, who the intended user is, or what legal basis allows its placement. The council has not confirmed any formal action.
