A project to save and preserve historical items is underway at the Westmannaarvet storage facility in Hallstahammar, Sweden. Over 2,300 historical objects, ranging from old furniture and hunting carriages to confectionery signs and tile stoves dating from the 1600s onward, have been affected by mold. Project leader Johanna Nordgren and object antiquarian Alma Pettersson are carefully cleaning the items, wearing protective suits and using brushes and vacuum cleaners.

The project, part of the Sustainable Development of Collection Management at Västmanlands County Museum (HUSV), began in 2025 and is scheduled to continue until the end of 2027. It aims to rescue and preserve cultural heritage, with plans to digitalize around 500 objects upon completion to increase accessibility.
