A woman has been arrested and detained suspected of multiple rapes and sexual assaults against a child. The assaults occurred repeatedly in Skåne in 2023, and the crimes were reported to police that year but the investigation was initially closed before being reopened. The woman, who is in her 30s, was arrested on March 6, 2024, after the investigation was reopened following a new report, culminating in almost three years of investigative work. According to Norra Skåne, the woman denied any wrongdoing during the detention hearing. This case is linked to a previous conviction, as three years ago she was convicted of sexual assault of a child after sending sexually explicit messages to a boy under 15, for which she was sentenced to fines and a conditional sentence.
In Borås, four men have been detained on suspicion of rape against two young women in an apartment during the night leading up to Wednesday, according to police. The alarm came in to the police at four o'clock in the morning, and officers went to the scene and were able to apprehend the men, who were still in the apartment. The police have conducted several interviews, but the crime scene remains cordoned off pending a technical examination. The women are, according to the police, 'a few years younger' than the four men, who are said to be in their 20s, though police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg did not want to say if the victims are over or under 18 years old.
Separately, an employee at a preschool in Hässleholm, Skåne, is suspected of gross sexual assault against a child, police report. The employee was arrested and detained on Thursday evening – reasonably suspected of a crime. The police have not yet released any information about the suspect's age or gender. All guardians at the preschool in question have been contacted by the children's and education administration, and interrogations and the examination of telephone material are ongoing in the case.
In Växjö municipality, a man in his 40s has been convicted of repeated rapes of a child, according to court reports. The man has on several occasions in the spring assaulted a related girl, who is under ten years old. He is convicted of nine cases of aggravated child rape and sentenced to nine years in prison. He is also convicted of, among other things, child pornography offenses and sexual exploitation of children, and must pay over one million kronor in damages to the victim.
The girls alerted the police when they had left the apartment, reporting that they had been subjected to a rape by four guys in an apartment in Borås.
In Malmö, a woman alerted the police at 19 o'clock on Friday evening and said that someone was stalking her in the park, police stated. The police were quickly on the scene in Pildammsparken, which is Malmö's largest at 45 hectares. Parts of the park were cordoned off and a large police operation got underway. No one has been arrested in the Malmö park incident, and the woman is being cared for at the hospital and will be interviewed by the police during the day. The police are asking any potential witnesses or business owners who had camera surveillance during the night in the area to contact them.
