Key Points
  • Morrisons is offering select vegetables for 67p through March 9 in a partnership with Gander.
  • The initiative aims to reduce food waste by selling surplus and near-expiry stock at discounted prices.
  • Shoppers can use the Gander app to find discounted items at nearby Morrisons Daily outlets.

According to major media reports, Morrisons is slashing prices on several everyday essentials to just 67p. The offer runs from now through to March 9. The promotion reportedly covers sweet chantenay carrots (500g), brown onions (1kg), baby potatoes (1kg), and medium cauliflowers.

The offer is said to be available across all Morrisons branches while supplies last. It is not known what specific everyday essentials beyond the listed vegetables are included in the 67p offer. Morrisons has partnered with Gander, a platform aimed at tackling food waste by alerting nearby shoppers to discounted products.

Morrisons Daily outlets will use Gander's system to sell surplus and near-expiry stock through the Gander platform. Gander app users can input their postcode or neighborhood to find nearby shops offering reduced-price goods. Discounted products are instantly added to the Gander platform, allowing shoppers to check availability before visiting a branch.

Ian Bacon, head of convenience sales at Gander, said that being approved as a supplier for Morrisons Daily is an important step for Gander. He added that retailers are looking for practical solutions that work in the real world, and this gives them access to a proven platform that reduces waste, supports profitability and delivers value back into their local communities. The exact start date of the 67p offer has not been specified.
