The statue depicts Jones as the nude organist from Monty Python's Flying Circus. It was created by sculptor Nick Elphick and funded by fans, who raised more than £120,000. Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam attended the unveiling and led the crowd in singing 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life'.

Palin and Gilliam were the first to rub the statue's backside. Jones's daughter Sally said: 'People can come and sit down on the bench next to him. They can put their hands on the piano.

They can see every element of the statue. ' Jones died in 2020 from a rare form of dementia. He was born in Colwyn Bay and later became patron of Theatre Colwyn.
