According to the Met Office, the affected counties include parts of North West England, Yorkshire and the Humber, Wales, South West England, West Midlands, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Deputy Chief Forecaster Mark Sidaway said showers on Monday should be lighter and fewer than those seen over the weekend, but lingering cloud and scattered showers will remain across southern and central regions. Northern and north-eastern areas are expected to feel fresher and cooler, with temperatures close to average, and some showers over higher ground in the far north-east could turn wintry.
Winds will be mostly light to moderate, though stronger at times in the far north-east. It is not yet clear whether weather warnings will be issued for the affected areas, and the likelihood of wintry showers over higher ground remains uncertain. The rain could disrupt travel and outdoor events for the bank holiday.
