The Matthew Perry Foundation was set up after Perry's death to destigmatize addiction and aid recovery from substance abuse. Perry died in 2023 at age 54, with acute effects of ketamine as the primary cause.
Key auction items include the script for the Friends pilot signed by Perry and his co-stars, starting at $500, and a collection of 26 scripts from key episodes, starting at $1,000. Also available are Perry's Screen Actors Guild award from 1995, a replica of the yellow peephole frame from Monica and Rachel's apartment, and an original Banksy artwork expected to sell for over $800,000.
Matthew believed addiction should be met with compassion and science, not stigma and silence.
Other items include a Batman watch, a custom Batman ping-pong table, and framed handwritten lyrics by Little River Band. The auction site opened on Tuesday, and items will be on display in Beverly Hills from 18-29 May before the auction on 5 June. The auction will be held at Heritage Auctions' Dallas showroom and online. Net proceeds will go to initiatives supported by the Matthew Perry Foundation.
Lisa Kasteler Calio, Chief Executive of the Matthew Perry Foundation, said: "Matthew believed addiction should be met with compassion and science, not stigma and silence." She added: "This auction fuels the foundation's work to expand access to evidence-based care and confront stigma. It is one more way we ensure that no one has to fight this disease alone."
