A sudden sandstorm triggered a mass crash on the E22 highway near Sölvesborg, Sweden, on Easter Sunday, April 7, 2026. According to reports from Kristianstadsbladet, six people were taken to hospital and 13 cars had to be recovered from the crash site. The incident occurred around 3 PM near Ysane, between Pukavik and Listerlandet.
" The crash prompted a rapid emergency response from Sölvesborg municipality, which activated its crisis management team within 20 minutes despite the holiday. Approximately 25 people who escaped physical injuries were evacuated by bus to Sölvesborg, where the municipal cafeteria was converted into a reception area for shocked passengers. Anders Borgman, head of the municipality's crisis management team, called it "the worst possible scenario" happening outside normal working hours, but praised the emergency response that had personnel on site within minutes despite the Easter holiday.
