Marika Domanski Lyfors received the Sportspegelpriset 2026 at Idrottsgalan in Avicii Arena. She reportedly gave an emotional acceptance speech, saying the award went straight to her heart. In 2024, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and has since transitioned from national team manager to senior advisor, but still travels with the Swedish women's national team.

Kosovare Asllani, who did not attend the gala, reportedly watched the speech later and described Domanski Lyfors as a fantastic person and master of speeches. Asllani also said Domanski Lyfors remains a 'retsticka' (tease) on team flights, showing energy and joy. Filippa Angeldahl reportedly found the speech incredibly beautiful and dignified, noting Domanski Lyfors means a lot to her and the team.
