Significant amounts of manure have leaked out, and some has ended up in Kvernabekken. Some streams may still absorb some of the manure through the ground. A large area is superficially flooded, and attempts have been made to spread the manure over several fields using an excavator.
A dike has been built to prevent more masses from flowing into the river. The cause of the manure tank collapse is currently unknown.
