A man in his 30s has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Kalmar District Court for serious child pornography offenses, according to court documents reported by SVT Småland. The crimes reportedly occurred during 2024 and involved both possession and distribution of a large number of files containing child sexual abuse material.
The court found that the man had distributed nearly 300 files through a file-sharing network. The material consisted of both images and videos, with a significant portion assessed as particularly serious due to involving very young children or abuse of a severe nature.
During a house search at the man's residence in Västervik, police discovered additional material on computers and storage devices. While the man admitted to having and viewing the material, he denied distributing it further, claiming someone else may have had access to his computer.
However, the district court determined that evidence showed the man himself was responsible for the distribution and found his explanation about unauthorized computer access lacked credibility. The court assessed the crime as serious due to the large quantity of files and the particularly ruthless nature of many of the abuses depicted.
In addition to the prison sentence, the man must pay a fee to the crime victim fund. The confiscated computer and storage devices have been forfeited.
