A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison for raping a woman in Åre in mid-December. The man must also pay 125,000 kronor in damages to the woman. Both the convicted man and the raped woman worked as seasonal workers in Åre.
They lived in the same staff accommodation and had known each other for about a week when the rape occurred in December last year. Östersund District Court found it proven that the raped woman repeatedly rejected the man's advances and that he raped her despite this. The convicted man is from the Stockholm area.
