Emergency services responded to two separate incidents in Eskilstuna on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The first occurred around 1:30 AM when a man called SOS emergency services after venturing onto thin ice in central Eskilstuna near Hamngatan and Nybron. According to reports, the man had dropped his mobile phone on the ice and went to retrieve it.
While on the ice, he heard suspicious cracking sounds and became too frightened to continue walking. He laid down on the ice to distribute his weight and called for help. Rescue services (Räddningstjänsten) were dispatched to the scene to assist the man.
Later that evening at approximately 7:30 PM, emergency services received another alarm about a burning container in the Hällby area. The alarm was raised by a passenger on a passing bus who reportedly saw flames in a trash can. Rescue services responded to the scene but found no evidence of any fire.
Both incidents involved emergency response teams but resulted in no serious injuries.
