Javier De Brito Jardim, 36, of Bolney Street, Stockwell, was caught on CCTV in the early hours of the morning of December 1, 2024, covering himself in a bedsheet on Cannon Street. According to police, Jardim then launched a frenzied attack on his ex-colleague using an iron bar on Poultry in the City of London. The victim managed to get away and called police, was taken to hospital, and was found to have a fractured skull and a small bleed on the brain requiring surgery.
Following the attack, Jardim was spotted on CCTV carrying the white sheet and travelling back to his bus stop on London Bridge. The victim told police he suspected Jardim carried out the attack due to a work dispute, alleging Jardim had been drinking at work and received a warning in mid-November, and believed the victim reported him to supervisors. ' According to the victim, Jardim was sacked from his job a week after making the comment, and the victim believes this was the motive for the attack.
Jardim attempted to make a getaway the next day, but City of London Police officers stopped him from boarding a flight at Heathrow Airport to China, where he was arrested. Jardim pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in February 2026 and was jailed for four and a half years.
