A man was shot to death at the Nattkröken restaurant in Eskilstuna on Monday evening, according to local reports. The shooting occurred around 5 PM, and the victim, reportedly a man in his mid-20s, was transported to hospital but could not be saved. Police were alerted to a serious crime at the restaurant location.
A memorial site with lit candles has been established outside the restaurant where the shooting took place. Four teenage boys are suspected of involvement in what is reportedly Sweden's first fatal shooting of 2026. Two 16-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of serious protection of criminals, while two 14-year-olds have been taken into custody by social services.
The victim had previously testified about being targeted in a shooting incident, according to Dagens Nyheter. Police are investigating whether the fatal shooting has any connection to gang crime and have thanked local residents for witness information received so far.
