Police were called to an island southeast of Kalix during the night before Easter Eve. A man in his 60s sustained life-threatening injuries in a snowmobile accident and was transported to hospital by ambulance helicopter. The man was reportedly lying on the ice when police arrived.
Police have an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident. According to Region Norrbotten, the injuries are life-threatening and the man is receiving intensive care.
