A young man has been charged with causing bodily injury after a New Year's celebration in Askersund, Sweden, reportedly escalated into a 'rocket war'. According to a witness, several people in a group began shooting rockets towards two individuals. One rocket hit a man, got stuck in his jacket, and exploded.

The man suffered burns to his chest, shoulder, and neck and has permanent scars. He is now seeking 30,000 kronor in compensation. The accused denies the crime, arguing that multiple people were shooting simultaneously and it cannot be determined whose rocket caused the injury.

The investigation has been lengthy, with the victim heard in two rounds in 2025 and the suspect notified of suspicion in December that year. The charge was filed on February 25.
