Gloucestershire Constabulary said officers were called to Lechlade at 7.10pm on Monday after receiving a report that a man had shot another man who was sitting stationary in his vehicle on Butler's Field. The victim, aged in his 30s, managed to drive a short distance and get inside a property before being taken to hospital with suspected gunshot wounds; his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Armed police and the National Police Air Service conducted a search for the suspect.
Police say it is understood the suspect tried to leave the scene in a vehicle but collided with parked vehicles and eventually left on foot. A firearm was recovered from the scene, according to authorities. A man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Fairford shortly before 10pm, and he remains in custody.
This is a worrying incident and no doubt will have caused a lot of concern in the community, especially during the time while officers were searching for the suspect.
