According to police, a man in his 35s was subjected to a serious assault in Överkalix on Sunday evening. Police press spokesperson Åsa Mjörndal stated that a person discovered it via social media and alerted the police. At 21:45 on Sunday evening, the police received the alarm and went to the address.
Mjörndal said an injured man was found at the scene and an ambulance was called to the location. The specific location or address in Överkalix where the assault occurred has not been disclosed. A man, also in his 35s, was arrested on suspicion of serious assault.
A prosecutor later made a decision to detain him. The identity of the victim and the suspect remains unknown. According to Mjörndal, there is no information on whether the man was transported to the hospital.
