A man in Sweden has been arrested on suspicion of child pornography offenses after allegedly creating AI-generated child pornography. The man, who was previously convicted of serious sexual abuse against children in Sörmland in 2023, is currently conditionally released and banned from residing in his home municipality in Sörmland. According to police, he boasted in chats about creating severe child pornography images within seconds using AI and expressed confidence he would not be caught.

The chats were obtained by Dumpen, a group that exposes individuals seeking sexual contact with children, after gaining his trust. When the man sent a child pornographic image in the conversation, Dumpen tipped off the police, leading to his arrest. Police cyber investigator Jonas Göthner stated that AI-generated child pornography is illegal to both produce and view, treated the same as traditional material.

The man has been released but the investigation continues, and he denies the crime. SVT has requested comment from the company behind the service the man reportedly used to generate the AI pornography, but they have not responded.
