According to unconfirmed reports from Barometern, Vimmerby is interested in signing the 35-year-old veteran. Williamsson confirmed to the newspaper that Vimmerby is among the clubs that have contacted him, stating he has had to start looking for other teams.

Williamsson's contract with Nybro is expiring after a season where he was limited by injury to only five regular-season games and four playoff games. Nybro was eliminated from the playoffs by Karlskoga with a 4-0 series loss. Williamsson has played over 200 games in Hockeyallsvenskan for clubs including MoDo and Leksand.
