Malmö's large preschool exhibition has opened in Pildammsparken with a record 9,000 children from 105 preschools participating, more than double last year's number, according to Sydsvenskan. The exhibition, themed 'We are Malmö', features sculptures and paintings of local landmarks created by the children.
The exhibition, which runs until Sunday, April 26, is free and open to the public. It showcases children's artwork including sculptures and paintings of Turning Torso, Öresundsbron, Folkets park, and Ribersborgs beach. According to Sydsvenskan, Mika Sundén, a child artist, described using a lot of paint in the creations. Children from Bollens preschool created a traffic light about emotions, as Amina Hassan, another child artist, explained to Sydsvenskan.
We used a lot of paint.
During the opening ceremony, preschool children performed songs they helped write, all about Malmö, according to Sydsvenskan. The entrance to the exhibition is at Roskildevägen/Carl Gustafs väg. On Thursday and Friday, there will be additional singing and dancing sessions at 10:00 and 13:30, as reported by Sydsvenskan.
According to Sydsvenskan, project leader Micaela Beijer described the decision to go big this year and include all of Malmö. Sofie Nilsson, also a project leader, told Sydsvenskan that the exhibition serves as a finale where children can show their work and feel proud.
This year we thought we'd go big and include all of Malmö.
The exact opening date of the exhibition has not been confirmed, and it is unclear how many visitors are expected. The specific songs performed by the children have not been disclosed, and it is unknown whether there are other activities besides singing and dancing. The budget or funding source for the exhibition has not been revealed.
We made a traffic light about emotions.
It's a bit like a finale, the children get to show what they've done and feel proud.
