Malmö Municipality has announced a new collaborative model aimed at facilitating the transition from daily activities to employment for residents with disabilities. According to a press release from Malmö stad Press on March 5, 2026, the municipal executive board is proposing that the city council approve the reporting of a 2024 budget assignment concerning this initiative.
The model was developed jointly by the Disability Support Board (Funktionsstödsnämnden) and the Labor Market and Social Board (Arbetsmarknads- och socialnämnden) following a mandate given in the 2024 municipal budget. The primary goal is to enable employment in the regular labor market for Malmö residents with disabilities.
the model strengthens collaboration and lowers barriers to the labor market
The new approach involves establishing a common working method between the relevant administrations, clearer collaboration in planning interventions together with individuals, and continued continuous support even after daily activity interventions conclude. The proposal has been referred to Malmö City's Disability Council, which has welcomed the model and emphasized the importance of collaboration, support, and follow-up.
This decision forms part of Malmö City's long-term work for increased inclusion and more pathways to employment for all residents.
it creates better paths from daily activities to work
