Malmö FF has hired Cristobal Fuentes as its new Head of Performance, the club announced on its official website. The 36-year-old Spaniard joins from La Liga club Real Oviedo, where he worked as a fitness coach at the professional level for over 15 years. Fuentes replaces Mark Piros-Read, who is leaving for a job in Major League Soccer.
According to reports, Piros-Read started his role as Head of Performance on January 1 and was officially presented on January 7, but he reportedly informed the club of his resignation on January 4. Malmö FF decided he would continue working during his notice period until a replacement was found. Fuentes has previously worked with Malmö FF's head coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez at other clubs, including Real Zaragoza and Sporting Gijon.
