According to the hospital, the department will relocate to destination U, floor 3, on Monday, May 11. The new location is directly adjacent to the emergency department, allowing for faster patient transfers. The number of review stations will increase from four to seven, which officials say will shorten response times.
Operations developer Kristian Fransholm stated that the current radiology unit is often heavily strained, and the additional CT scanners and increased staffing will help handle patient flows more easily, likely reducing queues for emergency patients. Assistant nurse Sofia Karlsson expressed anticipation for the move, noting it will benefit both patients and staff. The exact cost of the expansion and the number of new staff hired remain undisclosed, and the expected reduction in waiting times has not been quantified.
