The Administrative Court in Luleå has decided to lift the suspension of licensed lynx hunting in Jämtland County, according to a report from SVT Jämtlandsnytt. The hunting resumed on Friday afternoon following the court's decision.
The licensed hunting season began on March 1 but was halted on March 2 after the Administrative Court of Appeal in Sundsvall stopped hunting in southern and central administrative areas. The Administrative Court in Luleå now states that the licensed hunting in Jämtland County is proportionate based on existing needs.
The court determined that the County Administrative Board has demonstrated that all requirements for licensed hunting are met. Consequently, the court's suspension decision from March 2, 2026, will no longer apply.
The hunting season continues until April 15, with a total of 26 lynx permitted to be killed during this period.
