Key Points
  • Luleå's summer flower program for 2026 uses a 'Shades of the Sun' theme inspired by the city's light connection.
  • The design adapts to each park's conditions and features sun expressions from morning to evening across four locations.
  • The initiative follows Luleå's seventh win of the 'solligan' award, aiming to honor and attract sunlight.

The theme is based on Luleå's strong connection to light, building on its recognition last year as the winner of the 'solligan' award for the seventh time. ' According to the city garden, each location's design considers factors like soil conditions, maintenance possibilities, and usage by residents and visitors. Within the theme, each park has its own interpretation of the sun's expressions throughout the day, from morning to evening.

At Floraskulle, the 'Morning Sun' theme features soft, wavy grass and flowers in apricot, pastel lilac, light pink, and light yellow shades. In Stadsparken, 'Midday' is expressed in faint yellow, white, and light blue tones. Norra hamn showcases 'Evening Sun' with burning red, orange, and warm yellow shades, while Hermelinsparken's 'The Red Sun' includes dark red, orange, fiery yellow, and yellow shades enhanced by lime-green leaves.

Last year, Luleå was named the winner of the 'solligan', for the seventh time. With the summer plantings, we want to both honor the sun and, with a smile, try to secure a little extra sun in the flowerbeds if the summer should offer less sunny days.

The specific plants being prepared in the greenhouses and the exact completion date for plantings have not been disclosed, and details on the program's budget or number of parks included remain unknown.
