Luleå and Frölunda will face each other in the Champions Hockey League final on March 3. This is a rematch of the first CHL final 11 years ago, which Luleå won 4-2. Since then, Frölunda has reached four more finals and won them all, while Luleå has been in one additional final.
Luleå advanced by defeating Swiss team Zug 6-4 on aggregate (3-2, 3-2). In the away game, Luleå had to buy new hockey sticks in Zug because their own went missing on a flight, but they still won 3-2. In the home game, Luleå took a 3-0 lead after five minutes of play in the second period, and Zug reduced the score twice but came no closer.
Frölunda reached the final with a 2-0 away win and a 2-2 home draw against Brynäs, with Isac Heens scoring both of Frölunda's goals.
