The safety point currently meets level 1, providing basic support for a few hours during daytime, including access to reliable community information, warmth, water, phone charging, and simple refreshments. Level 2 requires backup systems for water, electricity, and communication, and the point must be open most of the day. Mattias Karvonen (V), municipal councilor in Luleå, stated that safety and security issues need state support.
Béatrice Öman, municipal councilor in Boden, emphasized the importance of trust in society. According to the press release, emergency preparedness coordinators Disa Kristinsdottir and Jonas Stiglund said this should become a successful example of good collaboration. Öman also said resilience is created when people work together.
The municipalities collaborate with associations to support local needs, activities, and development. Associations are a central part of the service point and are represented in the joint organization. The cooperation is based on sharing responsibility, resources, and knowledge for sustainable rural development.
